Life skills are work skills

Our interns are taught life skills as well as employability skills while on programme.

Every group has one turn at cleaning the social space. This is things such as glass cleaning (there’s a lot of glass!), vacuuming, mopping, emptying the bin, watering the plants, cleaning the microwave and sides, checking the fridges for out-of-date food and recording the temperatures, emptying and refilling the dishwasher.

This may sound harsh but this also teaches respect for a shared space, each other and dealing with issues such as mess and challenging the behaviour of others in a respectful way. Maths and English are embedded in an everyday way.

They also get to blast some tunes and have some fun at the end of a day!
